Timeline
Buffalo River Compost believes compost manufacturing and use are central to a sustainable community. As an active member in the United States Composting Council, we are the ONLY STA Certified compost manufacturer in Buffalo, NY.
Our products exceed the parameters of the Acceptable Range of compost characteristics contained in the USCC’s Consumer Compost Use Program and can be used on Lawns, Gardens, Trees and Shrubs.
This compost product has been sampled and tested as required by the Seal of Testing Assurance Program of the United States Composting Council (USCC), using certain methods from the “Test Methods for the Examination of Compost and Composting” manual.
NOFA-NY is a non‐profit organization that provides programs and services to promote sustainable, local organic food and farming. The coalition of farmers, gardeners, consumers, and businesses join together to create a food system that’s ecologically sound and economically viable. Through education, certification, advocacy, and other efforts, to promote organic food production, local marketing, and land stewardship.

Our product is manufactured through the controlled aerobic, biological decomposition of biodegradable materials. The product has undergone mesophilic and thermophilic temperatures, which significantly reduces the viability of pathogens and weed seeds (in accordance with EPA 40 CFR 503 standards) and stabilizes the carbon such that it is beneficial to plant growth.
